The Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion

lmm_west-bay_2

Land loss in the Mississippi River Delta is largely a result of stunted natural processes. To permanently reverse coastal land loss, we must find ways to get fresh water and sediment out of the river and into its adjacent wetlands. Sediment diversions, which mimic nature by reconnecting the river to the delta, are a necessary tool for restoring Louisiana coast.
