Louisiana residents: Call your state senator NOW before session ends!

“I oppose the Senate Finance Committee amendment to House Bill 812. Money from the BP oil spill should be used for coastal restoration and not be redirected for ‘other purposes.’ Please support the House passed versions of HB 812 and HB 838.”

Call the state Senate office today (225) 342-2040 and ask to be connected to your senator (you can give them your address if you don’t know who he or she is) and relay the message above.

Once you’ve done that, find your senator on this list and send them an email with the same message!

The committee has burdened the proposed legislation with unnecessary bureaucracy and has broadened the use of these funds beyond the original intention. The oil spill damaged the delta’s wetlands. It’s only right that the fines collected from BP and other responsible parties be reinvested into making the coast whole again. For more information on the bad amendment, check out our post from earlier this week. Call the senate office NOW before session ends (225) 342-2040 and ask to be connected to your senator. Once you are connected, give them this message:
