Louisiana businesses slapped with $2.5 million in pollution penalties

“The state Department of Environmental Quality ordered industries and businesses in Louisiana to pay more than $2.8 million in penalties and for “beneficial environmental projects” in the 2011 calendar year, officials said Tuesday. The penalties are a result of the environmental department’s enforcement of permits setting limits on emission of pollutants to land, air, water and underground, and from enforcement of other federal and state environmental laws…”

State proposes tracking technology on oyster boats
